Dating scan question - need advice on an early scan ? yolk sac?

hi im due next week but midwife is saying she would let me go 14 days over im very concerned at this as i had early scans

two part question

firstly the yolk sac was seen and sonographer said i was 5 plus weeks - ive researched the yolk sac and read its only seen at the earliest in the fifth week of pregnancy is this true??

secondly - i know he will come when ready, but if this is right about the yolk sac then they will be leaving me to go to far over and the placenta doesnt work aswell.

how accurate are scans early in pregnancy and if yolk sac seen i couldnt have been less than five weeks could i?

thanks - and yep i know he might come before then xxxDating scan question - need advice on an early scan ? yolk sac?
Every pregnancy is different but normally it's in the fifth week when you see the yolk sac. They saw mine at 5 1/2 weeks and a few days later at 6 weeks and 1 day they saw the baby with the heartbeat. According to my cycles my due date would be Oct. 30th and according to the yolk sac measurement it would be Nov. 1st, which is pretty darn accurate.

Did you never have any later ultrasounds to see how the baby was growing and to see if your due date had changed? I thought every woman had a 18-20 week ultrasound to measure different parts of the baby and check for birth defects. I'm getting ready to have mine in a week and 3 days. I've even heard of ladies having a 28-32 week ultrasound after that to keep an eye on the baby.

The majority of babies are not born on their due date only like 20% of them are. An on time delivery is one that can come either 2 weeks early or 2 weeks late. After being 2 weeks later than your due date then your baby is arriving a bit off schedule.

Good luck to you and Congrats!Dating scan question - need advice on an early scan ? yolk sac?
You will be fine! The scans are quite accurate in telling how far along you are. Even though the sac can't be seen before 5 weeks, on the scan the size of it would have suggested how long you were. Don't worry about it. Good luck!
